Treasurer
This is a great opportunity for a new Treasurer to join a capable, vibrant, fun but stable board with ambitious plans to grow as a Development Trust and to be part of a satisfying community project.
As well as attending and contributing to board meetings, the main Treasurer responsibility is to liaise with the accountants to ensure the annual accounts are completed correctly and in a timely fashion (work starts around July each year, to be submitted by December)
Other duties include:
· Ensuring proper accounts are kept
· Ensuring effective financial controls and policies are in place
· Keeping the Board informed of its financial duties and responsibilities
· Liaising with our external auditor in creation of the annual accounts
· Ensuring statutory returns are made to OSCR
Board meetings are held every 6 weeks for around 2 hours either online or in-person when possible. There may be one or two other evening meetings as required some months, which can be online, for the candidate to get up to speed with the project and secure the information required to complete the annual accounts.

Time commitment: | 2-8 hours per month (flexible depending on availability) |
Role description: | We are looking for some repair and mending enthusiasts to join our sociable group of Repair Shop volunteers. Our Repair Shop provides a service to the local community on a donation-only basis. This allows people to repair their items rather than replacing them, thereby saving them money and reducing waste. |
Main tasks: | As a volunteer you could be welcoming Repair Shop customers, assessing items for repair, filling out repair forms, repairing items either alone or collaboratively as part of the Repair team processing sales of upcycled, donated and repaired items. The Linlithgow Repair Shop has a very close working relationship with Linlithgow Shed and the Linlithgow Tool Library, and there will be opportunities for upcycling/repair projects in partnership with these groups. |
Required skills, qualities, and experience | Good communication skills. Experience in repair and mending, either professionally or as a hobby/interest. Enthusiastic team player. |
Training and support available: | Training on the Hub and Repair Shop processes and IT system will be provided. |
Any other Opportunities | Our volunteers can also get involved with Shed projects, usually with a re-use, upcycling focus. In the past our volunteers have made a number of items including wooden Christmas tree stands and planters using donated pallets and have assisted local community groups with planting features around the town. |

Terracycle Volunteer

Where (Location): | EH49 Hub, 6-7 The Vennel, Linlithgow |
Time commitment: | 1 hour per month (flexible depending on availability) |
Role description: | The local community are invited to drop off their empty medicine blister packs to the collection bins in our foyer. We are looking for someone who can occasionally (1-2 times per month) collect a bag of medicine blister packs from the Hub and deliver them to one of the Superdrug collection points. |
Main tasks: | The volunteer would be bagging up the packs and taking them to the drop-off points in one of the following locations: Stirling Glenrothes Rutherglen Perth Mearns Cross Dundee Largs |
Required skills, qualities, and experience | We are ideally looking for a volunteer who travels to one of the above locations as part of their regular schedule to reduce unnecessary travel time. An interest in waste reduction or recycling would be preferred. |
Training and support available: | Training on the Terracycle process will be provided. |
Any other Opportunities | Our volunteers can also get involved in other projects in Hub should they wish, including the Tool Library, Repair Shop and Linlithgow Community Shed. |

- People with finance experience to bolster our team
- Anyone with an interest in community energy schemes
