Summer Sessions: West Lothian Cycle Circuit and Bridgend

What We Do

Move For Good is the new name for Linlithgow Community Development Trust’s Active Travel programme.

We have always promoted active travel in all its forms. We’ve held many events including bike maintenance, cycle training, travel planning, electric car information evenings, electric bike trials, walking groups and much more. EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES

Summer Sessions: West Lothian Cycle Circuit and Bridgend

Move For Good is excited to bring more fun summer holiday activity days for young people and families in 2025.  

Come and join us for FREE events where you can try new things walking to explore on your two feet (wheelchairs are very welcome too!), zoom around on skates, or build cycling skills and adventures.

Our sessions this year will be held in Linlithgow town (15-17 and 22 July) and in Bridgend village (23-25 July).

Linlithgow Cycle Kitchen

Join us at the Hub for free friendly support from skilled mechanics to help you learn how to fix your bike!
Tools, advice and hot drinks available at each drop in session.
Every second Tuesday 5-7pm.

Led Buggy and Sling Walks

Every Wednesday*, meet at 10.30am at the Hub (6-7 The Vennel)

Short walks (c45-60 minutes) around Linlithgow with a friendly walk leader.

Free. Drop in on the day. Buggies, prams, carriers, slings all welcome!

*There are no walks on the 9th and 16th July due to holidays. Walks resume on the 23rd July.

FREE Long term eBike loans

We would love to help everyone in our community explore alternatives to using cars for their regular journeys.

LCDT are offering free eBike loans of 14-30 days so you can try one out to see how it can change how you travel.

We have 4 bikes available (three standard and one eCargo) and you can find out more about them on our website https://bit.ly/3vAbgsn

Go Jauntly walks around Linlithgow

Need some inspiration for walking routes in Linlithgow?

We’ve teamed up with Go Jauntly to create a series of free walking routes around Linlithgow.

Download the Go Jauntly app and search ‘Linlithgow’ to discover Move For Good’s series of friendly, simple step-by-step guided routes in your area. Whether you’re looking for a mindful stroll close to the high street, a catch up with a friend in the fresh air or a longer walk in nature, we’ve got you covered.

Women’s Hour (Cycling)

Women’s Hour aim to develop a community of women cyclists. The sessions are designed to develop a skill, have fun, and get a workout. Sessions are led by fully qualified cycling coaches. You don’t need to be a member of the West Lothian Clarion cycling club to come along to Women’s Hour. There are three groups at Women’s Hour.
Group 1: 6.30-7.30pm. Free session to boost confidence and encourage women onto bikes. This session is ideal for people getting their bikes out of the shed for the first time in a while
Group 2: Monday 7.30-8.30pm. £4 per session. Focused on developing group riding skills. You will already ride a bit and want to go further, faster and gain fitness.
Group 3: Monday 7.30-8.30pm. £4 per session. A bit like an outdoor spin class, for those who can confidently ride in a group. You will ride regularly and be looking to get a work out in a group.

CYCLING LOCALLY

Want to get out cycling in your local area? There are lots of opportunities in Linlithgow and around the area.

West Lothian Cycle Circuit

The West Lothian Cycling Circuit is now open for group bookings and public use. Public sessions can be booked at Xcite Linlithgow. Please contact Xcite Linlithgow reception on 01506 237960 for the most up to date availability. Click here for background information about the circuit.

Second hand bikes and bike maintenance

Find yourself a second hand bike via our Friends at First Step Bikes or get a hand with some bike maintenance https://firststeprecovery.co.uk/bike-workshop/

LCDT will be hosting fortnightly Cycle Kitchen sessions delivered by 1st Step Bikes, at the Hub. Each session will be delivered by a mechanic and a volunteer and there will be 4 bike stands, tools and basic parts available. Three bike stands will be available to book via Eventbrite with one additional stand available on a drop in basis. Look out for more information on our social media channels.

eBike hire (long term loans)

LCDT are currently trialling longer term eBike loans, of up to 30 days for free. Contact us at hello@trust-linlithgow.org.uk for more information and to book. Limited to one eBike per household, and terms and conditions apply.

Outside of Linlithgow, Forth Environment Link Falkirk Active Travel Hub Ebike library also do long term ebike loans and have additional accessories to hire such as kid seats and trailers.

Ever since its formation in 2008 Transition Linlithgow has been taking action to promote climate change education and initiatives. We will continue to tackle climate change with the community in the years ahead, now as part of the Linlithgow Community Development Trust SCIO.
