
The Trust successfully secured funding from Circular Communities Scotland’s Share and Repair Network Tourism Fund. Zero Waste Scotland commissioned Circular Communities Scotland to administer the fund and LCDT were delighted to receive money for one year for a project to grow sustainability in tourism in our area. The aim of the fund was to use share, repair, and reuse to open possibilities for a more circular approach: reducing the consumption of new goods; avoiding the purchase of goods for single use, and effecting behaviour-change.
Our project started with a pilot scheme linking up to 12 tourist accommodation providers with our Repair Shop, specialist repair services and tourism-related items (e.g. travel cots, highchairs, games). This helped to save businesses money while reducing waste and increasing their green credentials.
